The transition from primary to secondary school is an exciting yet challenging one for the average student worldwide. At Temple, there are a number of major changes for our children in Year 7. They now engage with more subject specialist teachers, more complex activities during lessons and there is a much stronger need for organisational skills. A good introduction to this new phase in the students’ lives serves as a springboard for optimal achievement, not only in Year 7, but throughout the secondary school years and at Temple we make it memorable and rich through a variety of induction activities involving both students and parents.
In collaboration with the parents, teachers encourage all the Year 7 students to immerse themselves fully in all aspects of Temple Secondary School life from the very first day. Our senior buddy programme, enrichment assembles, early morning Tutor Time as well as Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education classes all work well to create a nurturing environment where all the students grow in confidence and maturity.
Academically, our Year 7 students experience a broad curriculum with a variety of subjects from the Humanities, Creative Arts, Sciences, Language, ICT and Mathematics Specialties. To complement these, they also have regular opportunities to engage in a variety of sports within our modern facilities, including football, volleyball, basketball, tag rugby, taekwondo, swimming and athletics. The best athletes in Years 7 and 8 get the opportunity to attend the annual COBIS Secondary Games, which are held in different countries around the world each year.
